2nd Family Mediation Training Course (Basic and Advanced)
leading to Accrediation of Family Mediator

Approved by the Hong Kong International Arbittration Centre
Content and Objectives:

The course aims to provide family mediation knowledge and skills for social workers, lawyers, and human service professionals who are interested in understanding the practice of family mediation and equipping themselves to be an accredited family mediator.

The objectives of the course are:

  • To help the participants understand the processes of mediation including the pre-mediation assessment and the mediation process
  • To help the participants master the skills of mediation such as differentiating between position and interest, option generation and negotiation skills
  • To help the participants manipulate the skills of managing the clients' emotions through reframing to create a conducive atmosphere for mediation
  • To learn how to apply the tools of negotiation to address power imbalance, deadlock and impasse
  • To learn the skills of drafting mediation agreement and to understand the application of matrimonial law in family mediation
